Cape Verde Islands
Thinking of booking a week in January. Only after 7 days of relaxation and a bit of winter sun.
Have any of the WHO travel experts been there? Any recommendations?

Windier then my backside after a Vindaloo down the Taj. I would try the Carribean that time of year or even the canaries if money is a problem.

Sal is pretty much desert as well.
As mentioned, not a lot to do.

I went last September. Stayed at the Riu Karamboa on Boa Vista. Loved it. Definitely a holiday to recharge as there is not much to do/see - the island is semi-deserted. I believe that the neighbouring island of Sal is more developed for tourists..

Great place though, would go again.!!

Friends went a couple of years ago and the wind was apparently fierce, much too wild to go in the sea although the beaches are apparently beautiful. It was about this time of year.

I went years ago when I was on HMS Liverpool.

The ships football team played Cape Verde and because Liverpool FC donates their 1st team kit to HMS Liverpool each season the locals thought they were playing Liverpool.

I was writing the fanzine at the time and can confirm that I was the only white face in the crowd. HMS won the game 3-0 and the majority of the locals cheered on HMS Liverpool too.... Nothing changes there, wherever you travel in the world you will find scousers!!!

Went to Sal a couple of years ago. Very nice if you want to sit by the pool or beach and relax, not very good if you like to adventure about. There is nothing to do there! Oh and very windy.
